NEW DELHI : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Meeting With Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gained much political significance, as there was speculation that the YSR Congress may join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). YS Jagan had met with PM Modi today and discussed several key issues pertaining to the state. The meeting lasted 40 minutes. It is learned that this meeting was mainly about development issues of the state.
A day before YS Jagan meeting with PM Modi, YSR Congress Party leader Srikanth Reddy said that they would think about joining the NDA at the Centre if the special category status accorded to the state along with fulfillment of promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act.
Highlights of YS Jagan PM Modi meeting:
CM Jagan has brought to the notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 17 issues including Center assistance to the state.
- GST payments
- Arrears to be paid by centre to the AP state government
- Bifurcation guarantees made to the AP
- AP special status
- Funding for the Polavaram project
- AP bills pending with the Center.
As CM Jagan’s meeting with the Prime Minister ended very quickly. There might be no political issues discussed at present including the YSRCP stand on joining the NDA. Already the YCP is supporting the BJP from outside, as the BJP does not need much support from the YSRCP at present .It is learned that this issue has not come up for discussion.
