BANGKOK: Twenty people were killed and 40 others were seriously injured when a bus carrying tourists collided with a train near the Thai capital Bangkok on Sunday, October 11 at around 8 AM.
This incident took place in front of a Buddhist temple on their way to a temple in Chachoengsao province for attending a ceremony , police said. All the dead were identified as workers working in a factory.
When it was collided by the train the bus was overturned on its side, the top of it ripped off. There are chances that the number of deaths and injuries may increase further.
During the time of the incident the bus had 65 passengers on board, when it was crossing the railway track. Sombat Chutimanukul, director of the provincial hospital, said the injured in the accident had been rushed to several nearby hospitals for treatment.
A total of 23 people were admitted to the hospital and four of the injured were in critical condition, while eight others were under observation, she said.
