HYDERABAD: The Telangana government is on high alert as new cases of COVID-19 variant are on the rise in the Unite Kingdom(UK). Amid rising cases of coronavirus Strain in the UK, Now the Telangana capital Hyderabad is also under high risk category for the coronavirus variant as 358 passengers from the UK had reportedly landed in Hyderabad.
The Telangana state government has kept a close watch on the travelers entering into the state from other countries especially from the UK, said Telangana Public Health Director Srinivasa Rao. He held a press conference on Tuesday in which he revealed that seven passengers arrived in Telangana from the UK on Monday. A total of 358 people landed in Telangana directly from the UK in the last week. He further added that they are collecting details of those who came to the state from the UK between November 25 to December 21 and reviewing their health condition.
Srinivasa Rao said people still need to take precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. He warned people to stay vigilant as the spread of the virus had been reduced but not stopped. He suggested people to be cautious by taking necessary precautions in the upcoming festival celebrations. He said that arrangements are being made for the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine. The vaccine is likely to be available to people in another four to six weeks. We have prepared 10 thousand staff for the distribution of corona vaccine. The government is ready to face any catastrophic situation, ”Srinivasa Rao said.
