HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has foretasted that rains would hit several parts of Telangana for next four days days till Monday, August 24 under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal. IMD predicted that this cyclonic circulation would be extended up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.IMD foretasted that there would be no change in the weather conditions after August 24 due to the low pressure trough around August 23.
IMD predicted that heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu,Mahabubabad, Bhadradri , Khammam, Warangal urban and rural, Adilabad, Kumram Bheem, Nirmal, Mancherial, Nizamabad,Nalgonda , Suryapet, Janagaon. Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla.
Due to heavy inflows to the Central Water Commission (CWC) officials had also issued an alert as the water levels in Godavari was rising due to continuous inflow of water due to heavy rains across the state. After the water level in river Godavari has crossed the third warning level of 53 feet at Bhadrachalam, the district officials have issued a third warning on Friday, August 21.
Central Water Commission officials said that the water level in Godavari river at Bhadrachalam Pushkar Ghat in Telangana was at 54.40 feet at 10 am, with a discharge of 14, 06,363 cusecs of water.Most of the low lying areas in state were flooded with water and state government had started rescue and relief operations in flood affected areas, people were being shifted to rehabilitation centres.
