HYDERABAD: Telangana continues to report highest coronavirus cases on daily basis and witnessed a surge with 2,932 COVID-19 cases on Friday, August 27, With this the cumulative coronavirus cases in the state rose to 1,17,415. The death toll went up to 799, with 11 new deaths reported on Today.
According to the health bulletin released by the state health department on today, a total of 1,580 persons have been recovered from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours pushing the total number of recoveries in the state to 87,675.
The recovery rate in Telangana is 74.6 per cent as against the country’s recovery rate of 76.33 per cent. Similarly the mortality rate of the state is at 0.68 per cent while the countrywide figure was 1.83 per cent
Telangana government had intensified the COVID-19 tests in the state and reached mark in terms of conducting coronavirus tests on daily basis. The state government had tested 61,863 samples between Wednesday and Thursday, and a total of 12,4,643 samples were tested in Telangana since the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. But the test reports of 771 people are awaited.
After 1,580 recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, there are currently 28,941 active COVID-19 patients who were infected with the virus. Out of which 22,097 patients are undergoing treatment in home quarantine and the rest patients are in institutional care.
Out of the fresh cases reported in the state, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation continues to maintain worrisome trend with highest of 520 infections reported in the past 24 hours till Friday morning. Followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri and RangaReddy with 218 cases each, 168 from Karimnagar, 159 from Nalgonda, while Khammam reported 141 cases.
