HYDERABAD: Telangana continues to witness a surge in coronavirus cases daily basis, and has crossed the 1,00,000 lakh mark in COVID-19 cases on Monday. Telangana reported 1,842 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, August 24. With this, the cumulative coronavirus cases in the state rose to 1,06,091 and the death toll went up to 761, with six new fatalities reported in the past 24 hours.
According to the health bulletin released by the state health department on today, a total of 1,825 persons have been recovered from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours pushing the total number of recoveries in the state to 82,411. The recovery rate in Telangana is 77.67 per cent as against the country’s recovery rate of 74.90 per cent.
After 82,411 recovered from the virus, there are currently 22,919 active COVID-19 patients who were infected with the virus. Out of which 16,482 patients are undergoing treatment in home quarantine and the rest 6,437 patients who had mild symptoms of coronavirus are in institutional care.
The health bulletin said that the state government had conducted testing on 36,282 samples between Saturday and Sunday, and a total of 9,68,121 samples were tested in Telangana since the outbreak of the virus. But the test reports of 895 people are awaited.
Out of the 1,842 new cases reported in the state, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation which always contributes the highest infections has recorded the 373 cases till Monday morning.
