Massive Fire Accident In Srisailam Hydel Power Station, 9 Trapped

SRISAILAM: In a tragic incident, a major fire broke out at Srisailam left bank hydel power generation unit in Domalapenta on wee hours of Friday, August 21. This plant is affiliated to Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited’s hydel power station and situated at Domalapenta in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana.

According to initial reports, at least 25 staff working in the Telangana Genco plant during the time of incident are trapped inside, out of which 10 were rescued and shifted to nearby hospital in Srisailam for treatment. As per the preliminary reports short circuit led to the fire mishap in the plant, and the officials of the plant were reportedly suspended power generation operations to avoid any further danger.

officials said that rescue operations were being carried out to save the nine staff trapped inside the plant. Even the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed shock over the fire mishape, and took a stock over the relief and rescue operations being carried out at plant.

Officials said that DE Srinivas Goud, Sundar, Fatima, Venkat Rao, Mohan Kumar, Sushma, Etti Rambabu, and two other employees were reported missing.

CM KCR also spoke to Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy along with the Transco, Genco CMD D Prabhakar Rao who personally visited the accident site.
