NEW DELHI: India reported a spike in coronavirus positive case by reporting 89,706 new cases on Wednesday, September 9 said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With this the case load increased to 43,70,129. The death toll due to the virus rose to 73,890 with fresh 1,115 deaths reported today.
India ranked as the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world after the United States and Brazil, with highest positive cases being reported on a daily basis.
According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on today, a total of 33,98,844 people recovered from the virus and discharged from hospitals till date.
The country’s recovery rate stands at 77.77 per cent while the fatality rate was at 1.7 per cent.
Currently there are 8.97,394 active cases in the country.
To contain the further spread of the virus India has increased the anti-COVID-19 measures including the improvement of COVID-19 tests conducted across the country.
India had conducted testing on 11,54,549 samples on Tuesday, with this a total of 5,18,04,677 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
