NEW DELHI: India reported a single day spike with 75,809 case on Tuesday, September 8 said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With this the case load increased to 42,80,423. The death toll due to the virus rose to 1,93,526 with 2,077 fresh deaths reported till Tuesday morning.
India ranked as the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world after the United States and Brazil, with highest positive cases being reported on a daily basis.
According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on today, a total of 33,23,950 people recovered from the virus and discharged from hospitals till date.
The country’s recovery rate stands at 77.7 per cent while the fatality rate was at 1.7 per cent.
Currently there are 8,83,697 active cases in the country.
To contain the further spread of the virus India has increased the anti-COVID-19 measures including the improvement of COVID-19 tests conducted across the country.
India had conducted testing on 10,98,621 samples on Monday, with this a total of 5,06,50,128 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
