NEW DELHI: India reported a highest single day spike by reporting more than 90,000 new coronavirus positive case on Sunday, September 6 said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With the addition of 90,632 new COVID-19 cases, the coronavirus case load increased to 41,13,811.
The death toll due to the virus rose to 70,626 with 1,065 fresh deaths. India reported the highest positive cases along with deaths across the country in the last 24 hours.
India ranked as the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world after the United States and Brazil, with highest positive cases being reported on a daily basis.
According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on today, a total of 31,80,865 people recovered from the virus and discharged from hospitals till date.
The country’s recovery rate stands at 77.3 per cent while the fatality rate was at 1.7 per cent.
Currently there are 8,62,320 active cases in the country.
To contain the further spread of the virus India has increased the anti-COVID-19 measures including the improvement of COVID-19 tests conducted across the country.
India had conducted testing on 10,92,654 samples on Saturday, with this a total of 4,88,31,145 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
