NEW DELHI: India reported 86,432 new coronavirus positive case on Saturday with this country’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 40 lakh mark, September 5 said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
With this the case load increased to 40,23,179. The death toll due to the virus rose to 69,561 with 1,089 fresh deaths. India reported the highest positive cases along with deaths across the country in the last 24 hours.
India has reported more than 80,000 cases per day for the last three days and is ranked as the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world after the United States and Brazil, with highest positive cases being reported on a daily basis.
According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on today, a total of 31,07,223 people recovered from the virus and discharged from hospitals till date.
The country’s recovery rate stands at 77.2 per cent while the fatality rate was at 1.7 per cent. Currently there are 8,46,385 active cases in the country.
To contain the further spread of the virus India has increased the anti-COVID-19 measures including the improvement of COVID-19 tests conducted across the country.
India had conducted testing on 10,59,346 samples on Friday, with this a total of 4,77,38,491 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
