NEW DELHI: India reported 69,921 new coronavirus cases on September 1, said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With this the case load increased to 36,91,167 and the death toll due to the virus rose to 65,288 with fresh 819 deaths reported across the country in the last 24 hours.
India ranked as the third worst-hit country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world after the United States and Brazil, with highest positive cases being reported on a daily basis.
According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on today, a total of 28,39,882 people recovered from the virus and discharged from hospitals till date.
The country’s recovery rate stands at 76.94 per cent while the fatality rate was at 1.77 per cent.
Currently there are 7,85,996 active cases in the country.
To contain the further spread of the virus India has increased the anti-COVID-19 measures including the improvement of COVID-19 tests conducted across the country and created a record by testing highest number of samples in the last 24 hours.
India had testing 10,16,920 samples on Monday, with this a total of 4,33,24,834 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
