India Coronavirus Update August 28: 77,266 New COVID-19 Cases, 1,057 Deaths

NEW DELHI: India reported the worst ever single spike with 77,266 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, with this cumulative coronavirus cases rose to 33,87,50, said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The death toll due to the virus rose to 61,529 with fresh 1,057 deaths reported across the country in the last 24 hours.

According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on today, a total of 25,83,948  people discharged from the hospital after recovering from the virus till date.

The country’s recovery rate stands at 76.3 per cent while the fatality rate was at  1.8 per cent.

Currently there are  7,42,023 active cases in the country. The Healthy Ministry said that the number of COVID-19 recoveries are much higher than the number of active cases in the country.

To contain the further spread of the virus India has increased the anti-COVID-19 measures including the improvement of COVID-19 tests conducted across the country.

On Thursday, India conducted COVID-19 testing on 9,01,338  samples, with this centre government tested 3,94,77,848  samples so far, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Delhi COVID-19 cases tally rose to 33,87,500, Maharashtra (7,33,568) and Tamil Nadu ( 4,03,24) cases and Andhra Pradesh with 3,93,090 cases have contributed the highest positive cases to the country’s COIVD-19 tally.
