NEW DELHI: India reported the worst ever single spike with the 75,760 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with this cumulative coronavirus cases rose to 3,310,234 said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The death toll due to the virus rose to 60,472 with 1,023 fresh deaths reported across the country in the last 24 hours.
According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on today, a total of 2,523,771 people discharged from the hospital after recovering from the virus till date.
The country’s recovery rate stands at 76.24 per cent while the fatality rate was at 1.84 per cent.
Currently there are 25,23,771 active cases in the country. The Healthy Ministry said that the number of COVID-19 recoveries are much higher than the number of active cases in the country.
To contain the further spread of the virus India has increased the anti-COVID-19 measures including the improvement of COVID-19 tests conducted across the country.
On Thursday, India conducted COVID-19 testing on 9,24,998 samples, with this centre government tested 3,85,76,510 samples so far, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Meanwhile, the coronavirus has infected more than 24,315,420 people across the world, and lakh people have died of the virus. A total of 16,842,031 people were recovered from the virus world wide.
Maharashtra with 718,711 cases, Tamil Nadu with 397,261 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 3,82,469 have contributed the highest positive cases to the country’s COIVD-19 tally.
