Hyderabad City Buses To Ply On Roads From September

HYDERABAD: After the centre government had accorded permission for resumption of metro services from September 7, Now the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is likely to resume city buses in Hyderabad from September. Currently there are 2,500 city buses in Hyderabad city.

The city bus services remain suspended for over five months since the COVID-19 lockdown was imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus. Even though the TSRTC bus services were resumed across the state, the ban on city bus services in Hyderabad had not been lifted due to more number of COVID-19 cases being reported in Hyderabad city everyday. The capital city remains to contribute highest coronavirus cases to Telangana on daily basis.

The Telangana government is all set to resume metro operations from September 7 in accordance with the unlock 4.0 guidelines issued by centre on saturday.

The RTC officials are now reportedly gearing up to start the bus services from September as common man and most of the travellers who depended on the RTC buses are facing difficulties. According to reports on an average around 33 lakh people travel using the the city bus services every day before the imposition of lock down. But due to the absence of city buses now all these people were forced to rely on the autos and other private transport services during the lockdown.

Meanwhile, RTC officials of both the Telugu States Andhra Pradesh and Telangana RTC had recently met in Telangana and discussed over the resumption of inter-state bus services.
