MUMBAI: At least 10 people lost their lives around 20 to 25 people were trapped under the debris after a three-storey building collapsed in Patel Compound area in Bhiwandi near Mumbai in wee hours of today morning, September 21.
According to initial reports, the building collapsed at around 3:40 am while all the residents were asleep. After being informed over the incident the Rescue operations National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team rushed to the spot and rescue operations are underway to save the lives of people who were trapped.
A total of 20 people have been rescued by locals and NDRF team till now and were shifted to a local hospital for immediate treatment.
NDRF team also rescued a child from under the debris at the site of building collapse and he has been rushed to a nearby hospital
Even the DG NDRF Satya Narayan Pradhan responded over this incident and over a tweet he said that , “NDRF teams on-site, 20-25 feared trapped (TBC)… CANINE SEARCH ON… Technical search on… More #NDRF teams en route… details follow.”
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness over the loss of lives in Bhiwandi Building Collapse in Maharashtra. He assures of all possible assistance to the victims.
