HYDERABAD: Coronavirus is spreading at an alarming rate and has infected more than 31-lakh people in our country till date, and there is no vaccine or medicine for the virus as of now the only way to deal with the virus is to boost the immunity levels in our body and some of the foods by consuming foods which have both medicinal and healing properties. As prevention is always better than cure we should maintain a proper healthy diet which is rich in proteins, nutrients and other minerals to stay protected from the risk of getting infected with coronavirus.

  • As most of our immunity to combat against COVID-19 depends on foods we consume, consume most of fruits and vegetables which are rich sources of essential vitamins.

  • Health experts suggest consuming more vegetables like tomato, mushrooms, bell pepper along with green vegetables like broccoli and spinach as these were proved to build immunity in the body against several viruses.
  • One Should decrease the intake of salt, WHO recommends consuming less than 5 g of salt per day.
  • Consume foods which are rich sources of fibre by taking more of fruits, vegetables, pulses and whole grains which will help to keep out digestive system healthy.
  • Whole grains like oats, rice, brown pasta,whole-wheat bread, quinoa and wraps, can help to boost our immunity levels.

  • The World Health Organisation advised people to prefer white meat (poultry) and fish, which have low fat, rather than eating red meat, and to take low fat based milk and dairy products, including eggs.
