NEW DELHI: India reported 78,761 new coronavirus cases, with this cumulative coronavirus cases crossed 35 lakh mark on August 30, said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The case load increased to 3,542,733 and the death toll due to the virus rose to 63,498 with fresh 948 deaths reported across the country in the last 24 hours. India continues to record the highest single-day surge in fresh coronavirus cases since August 4.
According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on today, a total of 27,13,934 people recovered from the virus and discharged from hospitals till date.
The country’s recovery rate stands at 76.63 per cent while the fatality rate was at 1.81 per cent.

To contain the further spread of the virus India has increased the anti-COVID-19 measures including the improvement of COVID-19 tests conducted across the country. On Saturday, India achieves a record by conducting highest of 10,55,027 COVID-19 tests in a single day on August 29, 2020.
Currently there are 7,65,302 active cases in the country. The Healthy Ministry said that the number of COVID-19 recoveries are much higher than the number of active cases in the country.
