HYDERABAD: Due to the coronavirus pandemic a majority of the Telugu movies including the big budget movies were opting for direct OTT release instead of waiting for the theaters to open. Due to uncertainty over the opening of theaters in the Telugu States, the makers of Telugu Film Industry are left out with no other option other than streaming movies on online digital platforms. Now let us have a look at the six high budget Telugu movies which were all set to premiere on OTT platforms in the coming days.
Victory Venkatesh’s Narappa was initially planned for a grand theatrical release and makers have postponed the release date due to the corona crisis. Now finally Narappa will be streamed on Amazon Prime from July 24.
2) Drushaym 2
The makers of Drushyam 2 have sold the OTT and satellite rights of the film to Star Network (Hotstar) for Rs 50 crore. The movie would likely stream from the first week of August and an official announcement over this is yet to be made.
Rana Daggubati’s Virata Parvam will premiere on Netflix in July second week. It is directed by Venu Udugula. This movie features Sai Pallavi as teh female lead next to Rana. It also stars Priyamani, Nanditha Das and Sai Chand in key roles.
Nithin’s Maestro which is the remake of Ayushmann Khurrana’s Bollywood popular movie Andhadhun is now all set for it’s direct digital release on OTT platform Disney+Hotstar on August 15.
There were also reports that producer Bunny Vaas is planning for a direct-digital release of Akhil’s Most Eligible Bachelor and Nikhil Siddharth’s 18 Pages.
